(Sports Network) - Forward Jamie McGinn went from a playoff contender to a club just on the outside of the postseason picture when he was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche last Monday. That could change tonight if he can lead his team to another victory. McGinn and the Avs eye the eighth spot in a tight Western Conference as they aim for a sweep of their home-and-home set with the Minnesota Wild this evening. You can watch the game live on TSN2 and TSN Mobile TV at 9pm et/6pm pt. McGinns San Jose Sharks were holding on to one of the final postseason positions in the West a week ago when he was dealt to the Avalanche along with two prospects for T.J. Galiardi, Daniel Winnik and a seventh-round pick. The Avalanche were two off the pace of eighth place at the time of the deal, but now sit one point behind the Sharks for that position. Colorados 72 points are also tied with Los Angeles for ninth place. The Kings are visiting the Predators tonight, while the Sharks host the Oilers. McGinn posted the first two-goal game of his career in Sundays win over the Wild, supplying all the offense in a 2-0 victory. Both scores came off rebounds and were assisted by Peter Mueller and Stefan Elliott. Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and eighth of his career as Colorado snapped a two-game slide. "After dropping two, we knew we needed these points tonight to stay in the hunt (for the final playoff spot)," McGinn said. "Itll be an interesting race down the stretch here. We definitely want to make the playoffs." Colorado played without another recent trade acquisition in forward Steve Downie due to a shoulder issue. He is questionable for tonight, as is winger Chuck Kobasew due to a back injury. With regular starter Niklas Backstrom out 2-to-4 weeks with an upper-body injury and Josh Harding having been tagged for six goals in a 6-0 loss in Detroit on Friday, Matt Hackett made his sixth career appearance and second start, giving up both goals on 36 shots faced. He got no help from an offense that has been shut out three times over a four- game losing streak and now ranks last in the NHL with 137 goals, one fewer than the Kings. "It doesnt matter who youre playing, when your down two goals, its definitely tough to come back," Wild defenseman Tom Gilbert said. "We moved the puck a lot better and had plenty of opportunities to score, but we just have to get that first one." The Wild are 8-21-7 since they owned the best record in the league on Dec. 10 and now sit in a tie for 12th in the West, seven points behind the Sharks. Both forward Nick Palmieri and defenseman Clayton Stoner practiced on Monday and were expected to travel with the Wild to Colorado. Palmieri sat out the opener of the home-and-home with an upper-body injury, while Stoner hasnt played since sustaining an upper-body injury in a fight versus Colorado on Feb. 4. It is unknown if either player will suit up tonight for a Wild club that has used a franchise-record 44 players this season. Minnesota had won six of its previous seven versus the Avalanche prior to Sundays loss and aim for a fifth straight victory in Colorado tonight. Brad Daugherty Cavs Jersey . Riley Kieser and Mitchell Moroz also scored as Edmonton (35-13-1) won its sixth straight game to increase its lead to 13 points atop the Eastern Conference. J.R. Smith Cavs Jersey . Coetzee eagled the par-5 10th hole and birdied his closing three holes in a round that was just two shots more than his best on the European Tour, a 62 which equalled the Old Course record at St. QUEBEC -- Chip Beck eagled his final hole for a 7-under 65 and a one-stroke lead Friday after the first round of the Champions Tours Quebec Championship. The 57-year-old Beck, winless on the 50-and-over tour, hit his 3-wood approach from 256 yards to a foot to set up the eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. "Its time, isnt it? Im ready," Beck said about winning on the tour. "Im 58 next week and you know what, Im just going to play. Im going to give it all Ive got and enjoy whatever happens." On the par-5 18th, Beck hit a 3-wood second shot to 10 feet and two-putted for birdie. "Thank goodness the course dried out today and the extra roll allowed me to reach both of those par 5s in two," Beck said. "I managed to hit two of the best 3-wood shots of my life." The four-time PGA Tour winner also had six birdies and a bogey at La Tempete in the first PGA Tour-sanctioned event in the area since the 1956 Labatt Open at Royal Quebec. "Its a fun golf course with all the par 5s," Beck said. "The course is playing great, the greens were really good and its amazing the transformation overnight with the smoothness of the greens and the dryness of the golf course, so the wind really helped us.dddddddddddd" Duffy Waldorf and Craig Thomas were tied for second. Thomas, a club professional at Metropolis in White Plains, New York, went through two stages of qualifying to get into the field. "Im extremely, extremely fortunate at the club that I work at," Thomas said. "The members are very, very supportive and excited about both myself and my assistant, Colin Amaral, in our playing ability and our opportunities and the fact that we go out and represent the club. It couldnt be a better situation for somebody like me. Without them I definitely couldnt do it." Waldorf birdied four of the five par 5s. "It was a good solid round," Waldorf said. "I drove the ball really well, which helped. You kind of feel like you have to play the par 5s well out here and the four that I birdied I birdied fairly easily." Brad Faxon, Loren Roberts and P.H. Horgan III followed at 67. Esteban Toledo, the winner last year in the then-Montreal Championship at La Vallee du Richelieu, opened with a 68. Two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen had a 71 in his first Champions Tour round. He turned 50 last week. cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys from china ' ' '
